Breezy, mild Friday evening

Tidal flooding and coastal advisories continue

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The onshore flow weakens a bit this evening as the northeasterly winds get down below 10mph. Temperatures will sink down into the mid to low 60s overnight.

Tonight and Saturday night the Orionid meteor shower will be visible in our area, you can read more about it here... Sky cover will range between 52-57% overnight, with patchy inland fog possible as we approach dawn.

Saturday will bring more onshore winds out of the East, generally between 10-15mph with coastal winds occasionally higher. Temperatures will warm into the low 80s for an afternoon high. Expect a 20% chance for an isolated shower to wander onshore with our onshore breezes. Flooding is likely along area rivers at times of high tide with high than average tides along our area beaches.

Sunday will be a little warmer with lighter winds out of the east-southeast between 5-2 mph. Expect partly cloudy skies through most of the day with clouds building late.  Morning temperatures will start in the upper 60s to 70s.  Afternoon highs will peak in the mid to upper 80s over inland counties and in the low 80s along the beaches. After 1:00p.m. chances for scattered showers build up to 40% and continue through the evening hours.  Expect patchy, dense for late Sunday night into Monday morning.

A strong cold front  will sweep across the region from the West Monday night into  Tuesday. A strong line of storms will be possible as this front  moves through. It is most likely that we will sleep through most of the showers and storms, Tuesday will be defined by clearing skies and strong breezes. MUCH cooler weather follows for Wednesday and Thursday, getting down into the 40s and 50s and only topping out in the low 70s under mostly sunny skies.

Local hazards:

Coastal Flood Warning for St Johns river basin and its tributaries.
