Top 10 wettest July month's in Jacksonville

Heavy rain sets records

Heavy rain has been frequent both in June and July providing a surplus before the peak of the rainy season begins.

Jacksoville, Fla. – July was a soggy month and finished in the top 10 wettest even without the help of any tropical storms or hurricanes.  

Nearly every day recorded measurable rainfall at Jacksonville International with the longest dry spell lasting only three days in a row without rain in the gauge.

Three dates set precipitation records, with the highest of 2.79 inches on July 22.

Also Gainesville Regional Airport set an all-time July record for rainfall with 16.70 inches. This bested the old record of 16.65 inches set in 2013. Following a record June, the combined 33.56 inches between the two months makes it the wettest summer period in recorded history for Gainesville with August remaining.

Some parts of SE Georgia also received above normal rainfall with St. Simons Island seeing the 17th wettest July on record. 

Because of the rainy days, temperatures averaged 0.5 degrees below normal for July at 82.8 degrees. Even so, 26 days were 90 degrees or higher.
