Man dead in residential fire in Lincoln Villas neighborhood

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man in Lincoln Villas is dead after a residential house fire at around 4 p.m. Saturday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO said it was assisting Jacksonville Fire and Rescue on a house fire on Shrike Avenue.

Officials said there was an adult male in the residence at the time of the fire.

The man was transported by JFRD to UF Health Shands where he was pronounced dead.

This is not the only deadly fire in 2024.

In February, an 8-year-old boy and his grandfather were cooking food when a grease fire broke out inside the home. The grandfather tried to save his grandson, but couldn’t reach him through the window.

When fire crews got to the scene, the home was engulfed in flames. They were able to find the child and pull him out, but he was dead.

In April, an elderly man died during a fire at a condo complex on Jacksonville’s southside.

He was found dead in one of the units.

JSO said to call 904-630-5000 or send an email to jsocrimetips@jaxsheriff.org with any information related to the fire at the Lincoln Villas home.
