41 guns stolen from gunsmith shop after Hurricane Matthew

No charges have been filed

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is jointly investigating a burglary of a gun shop in Palm Coast, where 41 guns and other related items were stolen, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office. 

On Sunday, a little after 1 p.m., Flagler County sheriff’s deputies responded to 15 Utility Drive to investigate a burglary at the Robert Weidig's Gunsmith Shop. When deputies arrived, they discovered that the front door had been pried open. There was no one inside the business when the search was done.

The business was without power as a result of Hurricane Matthew.

After further investigation, police discovered that 41 rifles, shotguns and handguns, along with associated ammunition and equipment, were stolen, according to the release. 

Authorities were able to secure a search warrant Monday and were able to recover 20 stolen firearms. 

According to the release, at this time, no charges have been filed. Additional information will be provided as the investigation continues.
