COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – The state is now investigating a Friday morning stabbing at the Columbia Correctional Institution Annex.
An inmate stabbed another inmate during a fight about 10 a.m. New Year's Day, officials said.

The wounded inmate was treated at an outside facility.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Florida Department of Corrections are investigating the incident.
The correctional institution has a history of incidents like this.
Last May, two officers were charged with beating an inmate.
In July 2014, an inmate killed another inmate, and the American Civil Liberties Union demanded a federal investigation.
In 2012, Correctional Officer Ruben Thomas was killed by an inmate. He was stabbed 14 times with a makeshift knife.
