He had two felony warrants for sexual battery and aggravated battery.

Jacksonville officers tried to use a megaphone to speak with the man and said "We have a warrant for your arrest, we are not leaving. We are not leaving until this situation is resolved. We want a peaceful resolution."

Police blocked off West 15th Street and had rifles drawn on the home for hours.

During the standoff, family members of the barricaded man arrived at the home and tried to talk to him, hoping we would come out.

"I just pray that he just come out. Throw his hand out. Throw a rag out. Just give up," a family member said. "He is not a violent person. He is a hard-working man. He loves his family. He is a hard worker."

"We're not going to think negative," another family member said. "I don't think negative. Everything in my life, I think positive. I see him coming out that door. That's what my spirit tell me. I see him coming out that door."

Around 8:15pm, after five hours of negotiating, the SWAT team heard a gunshot inside the residence and entered. They found the man dead from what was described as a self-inflicted wound.
