Car burglars hit Ponte Vedra subdivision

Man had car stolen, crashed

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Neighbors of a Ponte Vedra Beach subdivision are on edge, after a series of car burglaries.

News4Jax received an email over the weekend in reference to the incidents.

The incidents were reported in Dolphin Cove off Florida State Road A1A. One neighbor, David Lee, said his car was taken out of his driveway and crashed. The insurance company totaled the car.

Lee said after his car was stolen and crashed, he purchased a surveillance system to setup outside. He said when he climbed a ladder to install it, he fell and had to be taken to the hospital.

"My next door neighbor came over and called the EMTs and as soon as they got here, they called the helicopter in," Lee said.

Lee said his car was stolen back on November 19. He said the day after, police found his car in Arlington, totaled.

"The car was paid for, now we got to make car payments," Lee said. "Merry Christmas."

Police still don't know who stole Lee's car. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
