Police: 3 injured in church parking lot shooting

16-year-old boy's head grazed by bullet, police said

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A person was grazed by a bullet and two others were injured Monday night in a shooting in the parking lot of a church in the city's Woodstock neighborhood, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said. 

The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. on St. Clair Street, just north of West 5th Street.

A bullet grazed the head of a 16-year-old boy head and two others, a woman in her 30s and a man in his 20s, suffered shrapnel-type injuries in the shooting, police said. 

The 16-year old was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with minor injuries, police said. 

Authorities said the boy who was shot is related to the woman who was injured. 

Police have received conflicting statements from witnesses and are still trying to determine what led to the shooting. Officers were told there was a crowd of at least 10 people in the parking lot at at the time of the shooting.
