Investigators say the woman was shot and killed

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A mother, believed to be in her 20s, was killed inside a car on Normandy Boulevard on Jacksonville's Westside, Saturday evening, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said she was found shot.

The unidentified woman's child, a boy either 2 or 3 years old, was also found inside the car. He was unharmed.

Police closed the intersection of Normandy Boulevard and Lenox Avenue for hours as they worked to investigate the scene.

Investigators said they are in the process of interviewing two witnesses to the shooting. Officers told News4Jax there is much more they are trying to learn.

“Where the shooting occurred, we are still not sure, that’s why we need to get these individuals downtown, we are getting some conflicting statements, so we need to get them downtown and get that sorted out as soon as possible," said Sgt. Jay Farhat.

At this time, police have not released any details about a possible shooter or motive.
