Police identify man shot, killed in Durkeeville

JSO says it may have been drive-by shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One man died after a shooting in the Durkeeville neighborhood Saturday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police have identified the man as Tommie Guyton, 33, of Jacksonville. 

Just past 10:20 p.m., officers were called to reports of gunfire on Grothe Street near Kings Road and I-95. Police found the man shot. He was taken to UF Health Jacksonville, where he later died.

“We received reports that it could have been a drive-by, or it could have been gunfire. We’re still trying to work all that out," JSO Sgt. Robert John said. "Nothing has been verified at this point that we can release.”

Investigators remained on the scene until sunrise.
