JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –
A man was found dead early Friday in the parking lot at the Roosevelt Gardens apartment complex in the Hogan's Creek area, police said.

Police have identified the victim as Ameen A. Ahmad, 27.
Jacksonville police said they believe Ahmad was in some sort of altercation in the parking lot that ended in a shooting. Police said there was evidence that multiple shots were fired but it's unclear how many times the victim was hit.
They are now investigating the scene and canvassing the Lincoln Court area.
“We're going to be very slow going through the process. We want to make sure we gather all the evidence that we can and make sure we get everything we need to gather here, probably at least through the better part of the morning,” Sgt. Chuck Ford said.
Protective Enterprises of Florida, a private security company contracted by the apartment complex to provide security, is assisting the Homicide Unit with its investigation.
“The camera system is not here on property so we'll be working with them throughout the morning,” Ford said.
Police said there is no suspect information.
