Lt. Steve Gallaher with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Ahmad had been visiting someone who lived in the apartments and when he went to leave he struck up a conversation with several men hanging out in the parking lot.

Gallaher said that witnesses told detectives the men were talking about drugs, and one of the men, Deangelo Woods, tried to rob Ahmad. Gallaher said Ahmad fought back and appeared to be getting the upper hand when Michael Guider pulled out a handgun and shot Ahmad several times.

Guider, 26, has been charged with murder and robbery, and Woods, 25, is charged with felony murder and robbery. A felony murder charge is brought when someone commits a felony, like robbery, and a victim dies in the course of the crime.
