JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two homes and several cars have recently been broken into in the Murray Hill area, and among the items stolen was one family's dog.
Joanna Madden lives in a home in the area and said last Monday she and her daughter had just gotten home from buying their Christmas tree when they walked inside and found the house completely ransacked. Two laptops, a few cameras, some jewelry and a PlayStation were gone.
Also missing -- their 6-pound Yorkie, Star. Madden said she doesn't think the dog ran away and hopes someone can help her find Star. The dog is 8 years old and was last wearing a red, green and brown sweater with a reindeer on it and a red collar with bells.
"It's probably at least $6,000 to replace all of that," Madden said. "That doesn't even count the dog. You can't replace a family member. (My daughter) can't even sleep at night."
Madden said her car was also broken into three months ago. She has since put up cameras for extra security.
If you see the dog, Madden is asking you contact her at joannamadden7@gmail.com.
After the story aired on News4Jax, Louis Stuart called and offered a $1,000 reward to anyone who returns Star -- no questions asked. His number is 904-591-5175.
"Maybe someone will come forward if we ask no questions," Stuart said. "Walk away with a thousand and give back (the dog) to the proper owner."
