A ship owned by the same shipping company as the El Faro is adrift off the coast of Canada.
The MV North Star, a cargo ship that is owned by TOTE Maritime, was en route from Anchorage, Alaska, to Tacoma, Washington, when it experienced an electrical problem and lost propulsion in both engines, according to an article from The Canadian Press.

It's now drifting off the coast of British Columbia.
A Coast Guard ship and a tug boat are on the way to try to rescue the vessel. According to The Canadian Press, the Coast Guard ship should arrive about 4 a.m. local time Wednesday when the North Star will be about 20 nautical miles from shore.
Nearly two months ago, the Jacksonville-based El Faro left Blount Island with a crew of 33 and later lost power near the Bahamas.
El Faro's route took it right into the path of Hurricane Joaquin as it exploded into a Category 4 storm.
The boat sank and none of the crew members have been recovered. The ship was found by the Navy three miles below the surface.
