Family continues search for missing Jacksonville man

Douglas Swanson went missing after Christmas party on Southside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The family of a Jacksonville man who has been missing for more than two weeks is asking for the community's help once again to bring their loved one back home.

Douglas Swanson, 28, went missing after a Christmas party Dec. 14 on the Southside.

Laura Swanson said she was hoping for a Christmas miracle, but as night fell and more days passed the miracle of her husband never came.

"It made me really sad inside and it made me, this was supposed to be such a big holiday for us," she said.

Douglas Swanson left home for a Christmas party between Newton and Belfort Road in his white Chevy Tahoe with a gray scoop on the hood.

After leaving the party a friend said his truck went into a ditch and his friend helped him out, but said he ventured back onto Newton Road, according to a police report.

"I think that he is hurt somewhere -- that he doesn't know how to get back. I can't even allow myself to think there's another option. I just can't do it," Laura Swanson said.

Laura Swanson showed News4Jax wedding pictures taken just last year. She said they serve as a constant reminder that she will never give up on searching for her husband.

"It's like I'm helpless but hopeful because of the other people surrounding me," she said. "I just need people to know that we love each other very much, and his family loves him very much and if you know anything you have to let somebody know. Write it on a Post-it, know it doesn't matter but we need to find him and bring him back home where (he belongs)."

He was wearing a black T-shirt, with a gray zip-up hoodie and jeans when he disappeared.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. There is a $2,500 reward for information that may help the family and detective find Douglas Swanson.
