Family searching for Jacksonville mother's killer

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – MAD DADs is working to help bring a family answers after a 61-year-old woman's body was found inside a home on Harlow Boulevard in late October.

An SUV fire in Cedar Hills on Hyde Park Road led police to Bradla Cook's home. Police found her dead inside her home.

"What do I do?" asked Kara Trimmer, Cook's daughter. "You're not here, I can't Facebook or facetime anymore. I can't come home for Christmas."

Trimmer doesn't know how she's going to handle the holidays without her mother.

"It's heartbreaking because it wasn't random," Trimmer said. "It was hate, some serious violence."

The killer is still out there. That's why MAD DADS is working with Cook's family to get the word out and hopefully find the answers to solve this case.

"It puts a little more hope that maybe somebody saw something, heard something, knows somebody, somebody will talk," Trimmer said.

"We love the community," said AJ Jordan, VP of the MAD DADS Jacksonville chapter. "We want our city to be safe for all."

MAD DADS walked the neighborhood with Cook's family to spread the word about what happened and to try to spark someone's memory.

Trimmer appreciates the support and hopes the walk makes a difference. She also hopes someone will come forward to give her family closure.

"She wouldn't let a stranger in, it had to be somebody she knew or trusted, mom was very giving but wasn't stupid," she said.

Anyone with information about Cook's death, or who saw anything suspicious at the home that evening, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
