BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. – Deputies are looking for a man accused of a child sex crime who allegedly cut his ankle monitor off, the Bradford County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

Michael Case was arrested about a year ago for a sex offense involving a 12- to 18-year-old, Sheriff's Office Major Brad Smith told News4Jax.

Smith said Case was in jail, but the processing of evidence was taking a long time, so the judge said he could be on house arrest with an ankle monitor pending evidence processing.

Case was scheduled to go before a judge Tuesday for a plea agreement, but didn't show up and cut his ankle monitor off, according to Smith.

Case, who is being sought on a failure to appear warrant, may be in Georgia, detectives said.

Deputies on Friday released a photo of a maroon Ford pickup truck that they believe Case may be driving. Deputies said the pickup has a green topper on it now and may possibly have Florida tag 7509JZ.

There is no threat to the community, Smith said, but deputies did alert the victim's family and are making sure they're safe.
