FHP: Woman killed in crash involving dump truck

Troopers ID victim as Debra Williams, 59, of Green Cove Springs

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. – A 59-year-old woman was killed when the pickup truck she was driving collided with a dump truck in Green Cove Springs Monday, the Florida Highway Patrol said. 

Troopers have identified the victim as Debra Williams of Green Cove Springs.

The wreck was reported about 5 p.m. and blocked all lanes of Russell Road near Watkins Road. 

According to the incident report, Williams was driving southbound on Russell Road when the GMC Sierra ran off the roadway and she turned left back onto the roadway and traveled into the northbound lane. Troopers said the driver of the dump truck, which was traveling northbound, turned right to try to avoid the collision but hit the Sierra.

Investigators said Williams was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. 

A 4-year-old child in the Sierra was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with minor injuries and the 39-year-old dump truck driver was taken to Clay Baptist Hospital with minor injuries, troopers said.

Clay County Sheriff's Office also responded to the crash.
