Arrest made in Fort White homicide

Tracey Lea Luckey, 50, faces murder charge

FORT WHITE, Fla. – Police arrested a woman Saturday night who said she shot her husband to death in a home on Southwest Bobcat Drive in Fort White, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said.

Police said the investigation began around 6:30 p.m. when a 911 call came in from a woman who said she had shot and killed her husband in a home on Bobcat Drive.

When deputies arrived, Tracey Lea Luckey, 50, repeated what she told the 911 operator, and the body of 49-year-old David Sullivan was found inside, officials said.

A handgun believed to have been used in the shooting was found at the home, police said.

Authorities said the motive for the shooting is unclear.

Neighbors told News4JAX that they often heard the couple fighting.

"I figured eventually it would be one or the other," said a neighbor named Susan. "Cussing each other, you'd hear her, not much of him. You'd hear her."

Although Luckey claims that she was Sullivan’s wife, detectives have not been able to verify her claim through records; however, they have lived together and have had a 30-year relationship.

Luckey was booked into the Columbia County jail on one count of murder, officials said. She is being held without bail.
