UNF President John Delaney and Jacksonville Beach Mayor Charlie Latham spoke to kick off the grand opening of the Park, which is the only one of its kind on private land in the area.

Five student-created sculptures crafted by UNF sculpture students, under the direction of Dr. Jenny Hager, an associate professor in UNF's Department of Art and Design, are displayed on a landscaped and designed walk on previously undeveloped property owned by MountainStar.

MountainStar Capital and the Lazzara Family Foundation provided a $50,000 gift to UNF to support students and its sculpture program. MountainStar Capital also donated the land’s use for the yearlong event.

The park is open to the public for free from dawn to dusk.

The project is a partnership between UNF’s Division of Student Affairs and the College of Arts and Sciences, the Lazzara Family Foundation and MountainStar, with assistance from the city of Jacksonville Beach and the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville.
