Fort Lauderdale issues parking tickets to SUV with dead man inside

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale parking officers continued to ticket an SUV for days despite a man being dead inside the vehicle.

The Sun-Sentinel reports that Jacob Morpeau, 62, was found in the driver's seat of the SUV after a passerby noticed the citations piling up on the windshield.

Morpeau's Isuzu Axiom was parked just blocks away from the Broward County Courthouse near the Savor Cinema.

The vehicle had tinted windows, which may have made it difficult to see inside.

According to the newspaper's story, the county medical examiner says Morpeau died of natural causes, but it's not known how long his body was in the SUV.

The tickets were issued over four days from Nov. 12 through Nov. 16.

Morpeau's family said he was a Haitian immigrant who owned a car sales lot in Miami before retiring. The Sun-Sentinel reports he had last spoken to friends on the evening of Nov. 11.

The city dismissed all charges related to the citations.
