Deputies say little about body found in St. Augustine neighborhood

St. Johns County sheriff's deputies find body in Newpark Court

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office was called to investigate a body found Thursday afternoon at a home on Newpark Court, off Hefferon Drive in the Heritage Park neighborhood behind St. Augustine High School.

Deputies were called to the home at 2 p.m., but little information was released by the Sheriff's Office. The agency would not say if foul play was involved and has yet to confirm the name, age or gender of the person found dead.

A Sheriff's Office spokesman said no details were being released because authorities do not want to alarm the neighborhood.

A deputy was stationed outside the home all day Friday, but no activity was seen around the home, which sits on a corner lot surrounded by police tape.

News4Jax checked property records and found the home is owned by 67-year-old Ronald Caruso.

Family members of Caruso could not be reached for comment.

Neighbors said they knew Caruso but declined to comment beyond saying police have not told them anything about what happened in the home.

The Sheriff's Office said more information would be released after an autopsy is completed.
