JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A former Duval County school teacher received four mandatory life sentences Thursday for his conviction on multiple counts of sexual battery.
According to the Office of the State Attorney, a 15-year-old girl alerted authorities in August 2012 that Michael Worrell, 64, took her took local motels and forced her to have sex with him.
Officials said they found that a total of three young girls were abused by Worrell between 2006 and 2012, with some of the victims being 9 years old when the abuse started.
Worrell was also sentenced to three 30-year sentences in addition to his life sentences. He was found guilty on seven counts of sexual battery.
