Georgia woman, 18, faces animal cruelty, drunken disorderly charges

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – An 18-year old Georgia woman faces animal cruelty and drunken disorderly charges.

A Jacksonville Beach officer said he witnessed Sarah Johnson throw a cat across a car and slam the door shut.

The officer was concerned about the high temperature inside the car because the engine was off. When he confronted the teen, he said she pinned the cat down as she put a leash on it.

A few minutes later, two witnesses told the officer Johnson struck the cat multiple times and could be seen crying hysterically.

The officer later determined Johnson was drunk and she was arrested.
