Shrimp boat captain arrested after St. Simons pier crash

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Police investigating Saturday's crash of a shrimp boat into a pier at St. Simons Island have arrested a 39-year-old Darien, Georgia, man on charges of operating a vessel under the influence, reckless conduct and interfering with government property.

The crash damaged part of the pier. No injuries were reported.

Adam Yednak was booked Sunday by Glynn County police and was released from jail on Tuesday.

According to Golden Isles News, the boat got its nets tangled in the railing and caused damage to the southern tip of the pier. No estimate of damage was available.

The news site said Glynn County police roped off part of the pier because of the damage.
