JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Florida Department of Transportation are now conducting a joint investigation into a semi-truck explosion in Northwest Jacksonville.
According to Melissa Bujeda, Public Information Officer for the Sheriff's Office, said there were metals inside a parked trailer at the AAA Cooper Transportation center that combusted, causing an explosion Thursday night.

The transportation center is located on Flag Street, just off of Kings Road.
"The bomb squad was immediately called to the scene and did an evaluation," Bujeda said. She said investigators do not suspect foul play in this case.
Originally, the hazmat team was called to the scene along with Jacksonville Fire Rescue crews. However, in a briefing just before midnight, Bujeda said there are no environmental concerns and the hazmat team was cleared from the scene.
Bujeda said the damage to the building is significant. She said the trailer was parked up against the building when the explosion happened. The force of the explosion caused part of the building's roof to be ripped off. JSO reported no one was injured.
"This instance, we're out here for something that could have been bad," Bujeda said. "Fortunately we came out and had a full response and it's going to be something, no foul play suspected."
A second trailer with similar contents was identified by investigators following the explosion. That trailer was tracked down and Bujeda said it doesn't appear to pose a threat.
Bujeda said the FBI and FDOT are among the other agencies investigating. She said that is normal protocol for this type of investigation.
