One of the projects involves upgrading the home of a 98-year-old northwest Jacksonville woman.
"I can live happily and know I'll be here until I go, that I'll be able to stay here until I go," said Clementine Shine.
Shine's home in northwest Jacksonville has been in her family for more than 50 years. Shine will be 99-year-old in May, and renovating the home that means so much to her is just something she isn't able to do. Painting and planting shrubbery are just a couple things that will be done to her home. But there's one thing shes really hoping can be fixed.
"The roof that's the problem, the roof if they get that roof fixed I'll start shouting down Myrtle Avenue because I'll be so happy," said Shine.
Shine said she's thankful for her health, Doctor Martin Luther King Juniors dream and the volunteers who are going to renovate and repair her home.
"Continue your mission and you'll get the rewards one day. Just trust God and keep doing what he tells you to do and you'll be rewarded," said Shine.
More than 500 volunteers from Wells Fargo and community volunteers will join together to live Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream Monday.
Hands on Jacksonville, local initiatives support coalition and United way organized more than 20 beautification projects, including the upgrades to Shine's home.
A few of the other projects include a playground for youth and teens in New Town, a makeover of Ribault High School, the creation of an herb garden for healthy eating options at Success Park in New Town, delivering electric heaters to senior citizens and more than a dozen more.
