I-295 southbound lanes to close for 2 nights

JACKSONVILLE, FLa. – All southbound lanes on the Interstate 295 beltway between Baymeadows Road and Philips Highway (U.S. 1) are scheduled to close this Sunday and Monday night from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. to install new overhead signs.

This is one of the final construction projects before State Road 9B opens later this summer.

One lane may be closed on I-295 in both directions each night beginning at 8 p.m. prior to the complete southbound road closure.

Motorists traveling southbound on I-295 will exit at Baymeadows Road and travel west to Southside Boulevard, south to Philips Highway, then east/southeast on Philips Highway to return to southbound I-295.

Northbound I-295 will remain open to motorists during the construction work.

The Florida DOT says the opening date of S.R. 9B will be announced soon.
