JSO: 2 shot, suspect loose on Northside

Victims taken to UF Health with non life-threatening injuries

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two men were shot on the Northside early Monday morning and the suspect may be on the loose, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Around 1 a.m. JSO dispatch received a call of shots fired at 1625 West 26th Street, between Pearce Street and Grunthal Street, in the Moncrief Park area.

"Officers arrived shortly after [the call] and found two black males shot and it's believed to have originated over a dispute with an unknown suspect," said JSO Lieutenant Ellis Burns.

According to JSO, after the shooting, both victims left the scene and ran a short distance to two different locations.

Both men were taken to UF Health with non life-threatening injuries.

"The [suspect] fled on foot is what we're being told," said Lt. Burns. "Detectives are meeting with the victims now to try to get more information."

Police have surrounded a home in the area, where they believe the suspect may have run into.

"We're trying to make contact with someone in the house. We taped off streets where the crime scene unfolded at different locations and where the victims ran to and where there's evidence at," said Lt. Burns.
