Dingee said the shooting stemmed from a dispute over a car.

According to police, Camarillo's friend took her Honda Civic without her permission and gave it to Wallace in exchange for drugs.

"She (Camarillo) was upset with the fact that her friend had loaned out her car without her permission," said Dingee.

During her search, she got Wallace's cellphone number, and the two exchanged text messages arranging for Camarillo to get the car back. They agreed to meet at the Super 8 motel about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

Wallace had demanded $100 for the return of the car, and Camarillo agreed.

According to police, Camarillo gave Wallace the mone,y and Wallace gave her the car keys, but after Camarillo got into her car, she pulled out a gun and fired twice at Wallace, who stumbled into the room where she was staying at the hotel and died.

"She said she had the gun on her, while she went to the car," said Dingee.

The room was registered to a man, police said.

According to the police report, when confronted by detectives, Camarillo told them, "I know why you are here, and I didn't mean to shoot her."

Wallace had been arrested 39 times in Duval County, according to jail records. Her arrests were on charges ranging from soliciting rides and drug possession to offering for lewdness, offering/engaging in prostitution and peddling.

Camarillo is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Dingee said she was convicted in 2012 of cocaine possession.
