JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville Sheriff's Deputies have made an arrest in the Mandarin neighborhood meth house they found Tuesday night.
Steven Kaai Andrin Jr. answered the door to the Manadarin neighborhood home and was arrested by police after officers found meth making supplies in his possession.
Investigators boarded up the home and blocked it off with police tape Tuesday night. The home is near Old St. Augustine Road and Hood Road.
Police received a drug complaint around 5 p.m. and headed to the home to speak to the residents.
The homeowner is Andrin's sister in-law, and allowed police into the home where they found Sudafed cold pills, muriatic acid and other meth making items.
Police also found a bag of marijuana that they say belonged to Andrin.
Police evacuated nearby homes because items found inside the home were consistent with a meth lab.
Some neighbors said they were shocked but others admitted they had called police before about suspicious activity at the home.
"I just think it's crazy this is going on in a neighborhood where there are lots of kids running around and God forbid something happened. Kids live right next door and I'm just glad they caught it when they did," said Tammy Ambrose.
"It's bad. It makes me want to move. I'm raising a grandson here. I don't want him around that kind of stuff. What if the house blew up or something? It's just terrible," said John Collins.
JSO bomb squad was called to the home because of how dangerous meth fumes can be and had a certified disposal company remove the chemicals.
