JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Transportation Authority held a vigil Wednesday evening for a bus driver who was found dead in his driveway last week. 

Kenneth Hawkins, 61, was found lying in his driveway on Biscayne Lake Drive, south of Interstate 295, by a mail carrier, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

Loved ones gathered with candles at the Rosa Parks terminal on State Street in downtown Jacksonville to remember Hawkins. 

JTA released the following statement to News4Jax on Hawkins' death.

All of us at the JTA are deeply saddened by the loss of a friend and co-worker, Kenneth Hawkins. He had been a bus operator since 2004. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this most difficult time."

Hawkins was apparently out mowing his lawn and doing other yard work when he was killed, investigators said.

Police have no suspect information and asked for the community's help to identify anyone who might be responsible for Hawkins' death.
