JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A jury has been seated in Duval County Court in the trial of Courtney Phillips, who is charged with attempted murder and attempted armed robbery in the 2012 shooting of sailor Brent Parks.

The wife and the brother of a local sailor is fighting for his life after a gunman shot him in the stomach during a robbery attempt.

Parks (pictured) intervened in the holdup of another man and was shot in the abdomen. He lost a leg.

Phillips' defense attorney filed a motion to delay the trial, after the State Attorney's Office turned over three videotaped depositions of witnesses just last week. The defense wanted more time to go through the depositions, but the judge wouldn't allow another delay in a case that's already taken almost three years to get to trial.
