Northeast District detectives began an investigation into an employee theft Wednesday at the juvenile detention facility on Ave. D.

An official for the facility, which is run by Sequel Youth & Family Services, had recently discovered that the suspect, who was employed as a maintenance technician, had allegedly stolen a large amount of equipment and items from several secured rooms over the past two months.

The equipment belonged to the detention facility and included weed eaters, compressors, paint sprayers, and a flat screen television.

Ten of the items had been pawned to six area pawn shops.

The suspect is also accused of scrapping a large amount of metal belonging to the county. Additional charges are pending further investigation by detectives.
