JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man's body was pulled from the St. Johns River on Saturday morning between the Jacksonville Port Authority's cruise terminal and the TraPac marine terminal, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said the U.S. Coast Guard were called about the body at 9:39 a.m. and forwarded the call to Jacksonville police. Jacksonville Fire-Fire Rescue retrieved the body from shallow water near the mouth of Dunn Creek and took it to the Arlington Lion's Club boat ramp, where it was turned over to the Medical Examiner's Office.

JSO homicide Sgt. Chuck Ford said the body was clothed and he was not aware of any visible trauma, but it will be up to the medical examiner to determine the cause of death and the man's identity.

"From my experience, it’s probably been here for an extended period of time. Several days at least," Ford said.

Police said they would look through any missing persons cases and asked that anyone who was missing someone who might have been fishing or near the water in that area to call JSO at 904-630-0500.
