Fire reported aboard regional jet leaving Jacksonville airport No description found
Delta Flight 5231 that took off for LaGuardia Airport in New York City on Tuesday afternoon had to return to Jacksonville International Airport when the pilot reported an engine fire, according to the Jacksonville Aviation Authority.
The Canadair regional jet, with 27 people onboard, landed safety. Firefighters had staged in case they were needed to put out the fire.
There was no information on the status of the plane.
The flight took off at 4:36 p.m. and was scheduled to land in New York at 8:09.
