Firefighters battle blaze at vacant home

State fire marshal's office called to investigate cause of fire

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Crews were called early Friday evening to battle a fire at a vacant home in the Mixon Town area, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said. 

The Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department responded about 6:45 p.m. to the house on Smith Street.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before any major structural damage occurred, according to police. 

The state fire marshal's office will be investigating the cause of the fire.
