JSO: Man arrested after 110,000 child porn images found on computer

Report: Cyber tip of child porn uploaded to Gmail account prompts investigation

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Westside man arrested earlier this week had 110,000 images of child pornography on his home computer, according to an affidavit for arrest warrant.

Chawn Stephens is charged with 10 counts of possessing child pornography.

Stephens, 52, was taken into custody Monday evening at his home on Jones Road, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

The arrest affidavit obtained by News4Jax on Friday revealed that the investigation began in January 2016 when Jacksonville detectives received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in reference to nine images of child pornography that had been uploaded to a Gmail account that was registered to Stephens.

In May, a judge signed a warrant to search the suspect’s home computer and cellphone. A forensic examination confirmed child pornography on both devices, according to the arrest affidavit.

"The HP desktop computer contained over 50,000 confirmed child pornography images and videos. Over 2,500 of these child pornography files involved infants, toddlers," the report reads. "In addition, over 60,000 confirmed images and videos or child erotica."

Detectives said they also located multiple internet searches with key phrases, including "man have sex with boy" and "boy lovers." There were also self-produced videos of Stephens on the computer, the report said.

The arrest affidavit said the smartphone did not contain child pornography images, but it did contain files and there were multiple internet searches, which included "little boys in Speedos" and obscene phrases.

Stephens neither admitted nor denied ever viewing types of child porn, investigators said.

Stephens was booked into the Duval County Jail on Monday night and ordered held on $750,000 bond, according to jail records.

Detectives said they have not been able to determine whether any of the children seen in the photos or videos are from the Jacksonville area. The case is still under investigation, which could last for quite some time.
