Major crimes unit investigates unusual disappearance of New Port Richey man

Brian White last seen on surveillance video with unknown couple

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Detectives are looking for a Central Florida man who was last seen on surveillance video six weeks ago, officials said Friday.

Brian White, 43, left his mother’s home in New Port Richey on or around Jan. 26 and traveled to Jacksonville to meet with a family member, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Department said.

Two days later, after spending several hours with his family in Jacksonville, White left, telling his mother he was headed back to her home. But White never arrived and has not been seen or heard from since that time, investigators said.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office major crimes unit are asking for tips on White’s whereabouts.

Detectives learned White made a purchase at a St. Augustine convenience store Jan. 28. Surveillance video from the transaction shows White arriving in a 2012 Maroon Chevrolet Equinox (with a Florida Purple Heart specialty tag 30074) with a yellow “I believe” sticker in the back windshield, officials said.

White, who is from New Port Richey, was with a man and a woman, whose identities aren’t known, at the Kangaroo Express on Schaller Road.

White stands 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds. He has multiple tattoos on his arms legs, back and chest. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, camouflage jacket, blue jeans, dark-colored shoes and a baseball cap, officials said.

Detectives said White is a recovering drug user, but it’s unlike him not to have contact with family or friends.

Anyone with any information about White, or who can identify the man and the woman seen with him on video, should contact Detective Jonathan Dees at 904-209-2130 or by email at jdees@sjso.org.
