JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting early Tuesday morning in Northwest Jacksonville. Police say the victim was shot at multiple times, but was only grazed by a bullet.

Around 1:45 a.m. officers were dispatched to the McConihe Street, just north of Kings Road in reference to a person shot.

"When officers arrived and located an adult male victim with apparent gunshot wound, rescue responded and treated that victim at the scene," said Sergeant J. C. Wilson.

Wilson said the victim was grazed across his chest and did not require to be transported to the hospital.

"The victim advised officers on scene that he was riding his bicycle southbound on the 1700 block of Barnett Street, at which time two unknown black male suspects approached him on foot and told him to get off of his bicycle," said Wilson.

Wilson said the victim got into a physical altercation with one of the suspects, and then the second suspect shot him several times.

"The victim then ran away for his safety and the two unknown suspects fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction."

Police said the victim described the two suspects as young, 18-23 years old.

"He was unsure on the clothing description, just advised us that one had a light colored shirt on. A canvass of the area did not reveal any suspects," said Wilson.

JSO is asking anyone with information on this incident to contact police or Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
