Man killed in accident on Arlington Expressway

Troopers say SUV flipped several times in single-vehicle crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Green Cove Springs man died early Sunday morning after his SUV went into the shoulder of the  Arlington Expressway near Regency Square, a tire struck a curb on an exit ramp and the vehicle rolled over, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said 34-year-old Edward Bazley was driving east on Arlington Expressway about 12:30 a.m. when his 2003 Ford Expedition went into the right shoulder, crossed over the Southside Connector exit ramp and vehicle's right-side tires struck a curb, causing the SUV to overturn several times.

Bazley was ejected as the SUV came to a rest on its left side. He was taken to UF Health Jacksonville, where he died.

According to the accident report, Bazley was not wearing a seat belt. Troopers are also waiting on blood-alcohol testing to see if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
