Man shot, killed outside convenience store

Police reviewing surveillance video, physical evidence

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are asking for the public's help in finding the person who shot and killed a man Sunday night outside a convenience store.

The shooting happened at about 7 p.m. in front of the McDuff Food Mart located on McDuff Avenue, just north of West Beaver Street.

Investigators said someone drove up and got out of the car, shot the man, got back in the car and fled the scene.

"This was not a drive-by. It appears there was some type of altercation between our victim and the suspect.. We're trying to identify the type of vehicle," said Sgt. Jay Farhat.

Police have not released the victim's identity. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office did say he was a black man in his mid-to-late 30s. He died later after being taken to the hospital.

"At this time we are reviewing video and physical evidence here at the scene to determine exactly what occurred here," said Farhat.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
