Michael Dunn's lawyers file motion for new trial

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – As Michael Dunn is due to be sentenced on convictions of murder and three counts of attempted murder, his lawyer filed a motion for a new trial.

The attorneys are challenging multiple rulings by Circuit Judge Russell Healey during Dunn's second trial in the death of 17-year-old Jordan Davis. They claim the trial should have been moved from Duval County, that testimony from the deputy medical examiner about gunshot trajectory should not have been allowed and a juror was dismissed without evidence of misconduct.

Dunn was convicted Oct. 1 of first-degree murder in Jordan's death. The former software developer was also convicted in February of second-degree attempted murder for shooting at three other teens that were in the SUV with Davis. Dunn is scheduled to be sentenced on both convictions Friday and could spend the rest of his life in prison.
