Missing woman landfill search continues

Search continues through weekend.

MAXVILLE, Fla. – Police in sterile suits continue to search a landfill hoping to find evidence in the case of a missing 22-year-old woman.

Brittany Foote was last seen March 18 and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spent most of the week searching through trash in their investigation.

They've pretty much been focusing on a section of trash high up in the mountain of trash at the Trail Ridge Landfill with no word on whether they've found anything.

Investigators began their search in a dumpster on Dunn Avenue which led them to the landfill in Maxville.

Bulldozers have been brought in to help move the mountain of trash around for investigators.

Trash haulers have been dumping garbage in different parts of the landfill and the police are continuing their search in a particular section where they think trash related to this case may be linked was dumped.

This is just one aspect of the investigation, though, and police are also still talking to Foote's boyfriend, 29-year-old Courtney Davis, who is locked up on firearm charges.

Foote was living with Davis when she was last seen, but has not been charged in her disappearance.

Davis has a long list of past criminal charges, including armed robbery, assault, theft, carjacking, marijuana possession and attempted burglary. He was also found not guilty on charges of murder and attempted murder in 2003.

JSO says it will have officers back at the landfill during the weekend, but the scope of the search will not be as intensive as the last five days. There are no plans to suspend the search and the comprehensive effort will resume Monday.

Police are asking for help as they search for Foote. Anyone with information about her disappearance is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
