Missing woman search leads police to Trail Ridge Landfill

Friends and family fear worst

MAXVILLE, Fla. – Family and friends of a missing 22-year-old woman were distraught Tuesday night, after police began searching the Trail Ridge Landfill near Maxville, according to News4Jax sources.

On Wednesday, JSO confirmed that investigators were searching the Trail Ridge Landfill for evidence in the disappearance and potential murder of Brittany Foote.

Foote's family said that she went missing March 18 after moving to Jacksonville last summer from Maryland.

Foote was living with her boyfriend, 29-year-old Courtney Lamar Davis.

Foote's family believes Davis may know something about where Foote is.

"The police then got in touch with my family. Supposedly Courtney had a cousin with him. His cousin claimed Brittany and Courtney were arguing and he heard two gunshots in the bedroom," one of Foote's family members said.

In response to the family's fears of foul play, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office officially released a statement that they were looking into the accusations brought forth by the family.

JSO also recently searched a dumpster on Dunn Avenue but investigators were unable to find anything.

"I can't sleep. I can't even do anything. She was my friend. Oh my God," Suzetta Christensen, Foote's friend said.

Christensen said it felt like a nightmare. She never imagined herself rushing to a landfill to find police digging through trash, possibly looking for her friend.

"I came up here just to, just to show myself that I care about this girl and I've been worried about her," Christensen said.

Christensen said she was worried because for the past two weeks her friend and former co-worker has been missing.

"She hasn't even lived here long but I know her boyfriend was in the military and he was stationed here and that's why she moved down here," Christensen said.

Earlier, JSO released a statement that said they are looking into the family's accusations but that no missing person's report had been filed yet.

Foote's family said that JSO informed them that Davis was arrested on a weapons charge. Court records show a 29-year-old Courtney Lamar Davis was arrested March 27 for possession of a firearm by an out-of-state felon, in connection with an incident that took place March 21. He is not showing on JSO's jail website.
