'Mothers of the Movement' visit Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A group of mothers who have lost children to gun violence are in North Florida campaigning for Hillary Clinton and visited Jacksonville on Saturday.

The group, Mothers of the Movement, are doing a tour of the state -- taking on issues important to the black community. Jobs, education, criminal justice reform, and gun violence were all topics on the agenda.

The mothers of Trayvon Martin, Eric Gardner, and Sandra Bland, to name a few, all took part. Participants said, events like this are critical in this election year.

Lucia McBath, the mother of Jordan Davis, who was gunned down after an argument over loud music, attended the event in support of Clinton.

I am here supporting secretary Clinton because in the time that i have been able to serve with her and mothers of the movement around the country," McBath said. "I have come to understand that she is truly vested in our community."

This is the group's first trip since taking the stage at the Democratic National Convention. It plans to continue its tour of Florida, taking on a number of issues and getting voters registered from the November general election.
