Multiple felon faces 30 years for burglary

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A felon with multiple previous convictions is behind bars Wednesday after being convicted of a July 2014 burglary.

According to police, 54-year-old Anthony Dwayne Perry was found guilty of one count of burglary to a dwelling after breaking into a home on Phelps Street.

Police said Perry broke a bedroom window and climbed into the home through the broken window, which set off an alarm.

When he heard the alarm, Perry grabbed a few items from the home and tried unsuccessfully to get away through the home's garage.

Unable to escape through the garage, Perry climbed back out the broken window, leaving behind blood and fingerprints that allowed police to identify him.

Officials said Perry has multiple previous felony convictions, including another conviction for burglary to a dwelling earlier this year, which he is awaiting sentencing on.

Perry is facing 30 years in prison as a habitual felony offender and will be sentenced the week of July 27.
