JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Bike riders, walkers and runners could soon get improved paths in the Riverside and San Marco areas. Earlier in August, new renderings were released to show where the new routes would be, but they're still asking for input from the community before they continue moving forward.
The current paths would be improved and new paths would be added to the Fuller Warren Bridge. Improving the existing paths on the Acosta Bridge could also be in the works.

Cynthia Williams lives on the Westside, but loves to stay active, and comes to Riverside to work out. She and her husband attend the YMCA and take advantage of the biking and pedestrian paths throughout the area.
"We would walk all the way to the Landing and come back. It's perfect for that and it's also perfect for cycling. We see a lot of cyclists do that," said Williams.
Williams say she would love to see this area continued to improve. She's excited to hear the North Florida Planning Transportation Organization, which is made up of three city council members and the mayor, is in the midst of a study to learn how it and the FDOT can improve the paths throughout Riverside and San Marco.
Some of the areas that could be included in future improvements include the Fuller Warren Bridge, the I-10/I-95 interchange area, Riverside Avenue near the Riverside Arts Market and Palm Avenue in San Marco and more.
North Florida PTO says the study is in the final stages, but it wants feedback from people who use the Riverside or San Marco paths. Williams says just the thought of improvements makes her happy.
"That would be fantastic! That would be great! That would extend the walks, the runs and the cyclists would love it. My husband is and he loves it," said Williams. "We love to exercise, we want to stay fit in Jacksonville, help us stay fit by continuing the upkeep of this area for us."
Below are important dates concerning the study:
| Thursday, August 6 | Last meeting for public comment |
| Friday, August 7 | Deadline for input through the organization's website |
