Oldest woman in Jacksonville dies at 114

Blanche Cobb is survived by 5 generations of family members

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The oldest woman in Jacksonville has died. Blanche Cobb was 114.

Cobb was the 50th oldest person of all time according to the Guinness Book of World Records and was recognized in the past for her volunteerism and active voting record.

Earlier this year, a local group called Breaking the Silence joined with The Home Depot to renovate the home that Cobb had lived in for 80 years. They repainted the house, repaired the floors and updated the landscaping in the yard. Her 83-year-old daughter also lives in the home.

Cobb, who raised 13 children and welcomed more than 60 grandchildren and great grandchildren to her home over the past eight decades, is survived by five generations of family.
