Woman found dead inside home on Commonwealth Avenue

Neighbors called police reporting foul odor from home

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After neighbors called 911 early Thursday morning about a foul odor coming from a home on Commonwealth Avenue, officers report finding the body of a woman in her 40s inside the house.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office homicide detectives called to the scene said it appears the woman had been dead for several days in the home near the intersection of Canal Street in the city's Robinson's Addition neighborhood.

Authorities were in the process of notifying the woman's next of kin. 

Police said they don't know if foul play was involved, but were investigating her death as a homicide.
